What Makes This Teacher Training Special

This 200hr course is for everyone who seeks a foundational Yoga teacher training but is also interested in the complementary wisdom of Ayurveda. It is for those who do not want to study content only, but want to immerse themselves into the yogic lifestyle in a residential course.

 

By applying and living the principles you study, you gain a deeper insight and undertanding plus you get to enjoy the beneficial effects in your own life. The scene this teacher training is set into, couldn`t be more pure and true to its teachings.

While we study the holisitc flow of the elemens in the ayurvedic routine and yoga classes, the venue itself is a humble teacher in the background. Displaying the cosmic interplay of the elements as it provides shelter, creates diversity, beauty and contributes to a deeper understanding of resilience and harmony.

This teacher training is like an ayurvedic dish itself. It incorporates a multitude of different flavours and textures by adding ceremonies, healthy rituals and field trips. Igniting your soul and senses, it will leave you nourished  on every level.

Program

The training begins on Sunday, 6th of November 2022 with an opening ceremony at 2pm

( you can arrive from 10am and have time to settle in ).

 

The teacher training is finished on Sunday, 4th of December 2022 after breakfast around 10am

( closing ceremony on Saturday evening ).

 

Your overview and general schedule of the teacher training:

Classes run Monday to Friday and half day on Saturday. The second half , we go on field trips like a garden tour at the local herbal learning garden of Phytofarm,  visits to nearby nature reserve & waterfalls and the magical local meditation temple overviewing Akaroa harbour. Fire /   cacao ceremonies & crystal sound baths or sweat lodge are also woven into your teacher training experience...

Sunday is completely to your own leisure.

The days are structured as following ( Content of theory blocks ( i.e. Applied Anatomy and Physiology, Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Therapy, ... varies each week )

Evenings are optional!

 

Twice per week there will be an evening event from 7.30 to 8.30 pm.

These events complement the practice and yogic studies as they incorporate mantras, chanting, and other yogic rituals like fire ceremonies. Attendance is not compulsory for certificate.

 

Description

This four week intensive teacher training is your solid foundation for teaching yoga while you deepen your own practice. Your days will be filled with the many aspects of yoga including asana classes, meditation, pranayama, cleansing techniques, marma points and lectures on anatomy, ayurvedic physiology, philosophy and more.

The practice oriented style of teaching gives you a chance to experience the divers subjects with all senses. 

The classes take place in the Garden Yoga Shallah` and the´Earth Studio´on site. You´ll find lots of enchanted niches and garden marquees for your own practice in the beautiful garden.

One day per week is to your own leisure, study or adventure on the Banks Peninsula. Incredible night skies, many bushwalks and the beautiful beaches with their local resident seal, penguin and dolphin colonies are at your doorstep. However, we will take you on field trips around the Peninsula every Saturday where you get to experience some magical spots and meet the wonderful locals.

Your accomodation is on site of Okuti Garden either in a yurt, tipi or housetruck. Comfy beds, candle light and hot water bottles ensure you can restore deeply while enjoying a month with little electricity and next to no radiation other then from your own energy body.

Full board healthy vegetarian catering is included six days a week. The food is partly from the garden you are living in, always organic and freshly prepared on site. Sundays you are free to explore the culinary delights around you.

The bundle we created for you is as vibrant and abundant as the venue itself. Daily yoga nidra, weekly kirtans, rituals of 108 sun salutaions and ceremonies are adding to your full immersion into the yogic lifestyle and transformational effects.

This 200 hrs YTTC is aligned with the International Certificate of Yoga Alliance. Your certificate is globaly recognised.

You don´t need any previous yoga experience to attend the course. Students from everywhere are welcome. The teaching language is english.

Teachers

MASCHA SCHMITZ  Sukha Yoga Cologne 

is a graduated sports scientist, yoga teacher and ayurveda therapist. She founded Sukha Yoga - holistic flow of the elements in 2012. Mascha teaches Yoga since 1997 and is constantly expanding and evolving while studying with international teachers. Mascha will be your principal teacher - her classes include Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Therapy, Anatomy, Marma therapy, Alignment and Sequencing.

Sukha Yoga is accredited school of Yoga Alliance International.

CHRISTINE KIELTYKA Fernflower Ayurveda Aotearoa 

is a graduated sports scientist, yoga teacher, ayurveda therapist and massage practicioner. She founded her own Holistic Health & Ayurveda Institute in 2021. Christine is co hosting and facilitating this teacher training . She lives and works in Okuti Garden since 2014, currently expanding her ayurvedic knowledge into local medicinal plants. Her classes include the foundation of Ayurveda, explaining the correlation of the elements around us and ourself, aspects of nutrition and cleansing techniques.

Together they will be guiding you through daily Yoga Nidra, weekly Kirtans and ceremonies.

Okuti Garden, Eco Stay in Little River/ Banks Peninsula NZ

Our private accomodation offer guests a tranquil, rejuvenating home away from home experience. The structures are purposely designed and built for a healthy - non toxic- environment and give you a super comfy and clean shelter while you feel like sleeping outdoors.

You can choose to stay in a mongolian yurt, tipi or housetruck. All lovingly furnished and decorated and set out around ponds and streams, fruit and nut trees, meadows, woods and organic vege gardens on the sunny side of the lovely Okuti Valley. Single or double occupancy available. The price lsted is per person.

Facilities are ecofriendly and fuse into the inspiring holistic approach of the place. Everything here is organic and cared for to be in tune with nature, without compromising quality standards. You can experience eco solutions like kiwi fire bath, solar shower, wetland greywater system, composting toilet and more. Conventional bathroom and shower are available as well.

Free WIFI is available on site in certain areas. We purposely keep the rooms outside its range to offer you a digital detox during your stay.

Okuti Garden is probably the place you always wanted to find in New Zealand. A fairytale like landscape, with birds, butterflies, a couple of donkeys, sheep and kunekune pigs to cuddle. Pristine spring fed drinking water, sun kissed solar shower, culinary herbs to pick and probably the best sleep ever, are here for you.

Location

The training takes place on the beautiful Banks Peninsula on New Zealands South Island. It is an ancient vulcano and surrounded by the pacific ocean. Many pristine beaches and coves with its local resident seal, penguin and dolphin colonies are characteristic to the Peninsula. You will have time to explore and enjoy these beautiful sites. Walking on beaches with nothing but your own footprints...Bushwalks in native forests and reserves with waterfalls and ancient trees are also plentiful and contribute to the rich and wide range of flora and native birds that surrounds you here.

You will stay in Okuti Garden Eco Stay. It is in Okuti Valley, which is known to be one of the most fertile valleys of New Zealand.

The southern facing beaches like Tumbledown and Magnet Bay are 15 minutes away and good surf spots. A little mind boggling detail here is, that you can witness the sunset into the sea from there, although we are on New Zealands east coast.

Christchurch, New Zealands largest city on the south island is only 45 minutes away which makes it easy for travelling as there is an international airport.

You will study and live in Okuti Garden, Eco Stay and we could not have dreamed up a better place to be teaching the holistic flow of the elements, that is - YOGA

In this perfect tranquility, enveloped in birdsongs and the sent of wildflowers, it is the ideal space for focused study but at the same time you will recharge and rejuvenate deeply.

To get around on the Peninsula, we do recommend to carpool. A list of all participants will be send out so you can connect and team up for potential car rentals...

Vaccinations requirements

Any vaccine that has been approved by at least 1 government health authority or approval authority is approved for entry into New Zealand. To be eligible to enter New Zealand, you must have had a full course of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. A full course of some of the approved vaccines is 1 dose only.
